John ask me if I could make a weathervane for his Galley Hatch Restaurant as we were talking on the bar. "What you vision on the roof?" I asked him. He said: "I want served Mediterranean Sea fish, sketch for me a fish floating in the air." OK. I had a lot of fun to do it.

Marie Stankova was born outside of Prague, Czech Republic in 1928. She studied fashion design as a young woman and worked for the National Theater as a costume technician up until her retirement. Thirty years ago she started making crocheted jewelry with natural elements. This has evolved into her passion in her retirement. Friends and family bring her artifacts from around the world to incorporate into her art. Her current favorites are beach stones from the New Hampshire seacoast. She also enjoys using pieces of antique costumes which she salvages for their leather, metal, glass and fabrics. Marie’s works are distributed in Czech Republic galleries and are a favorite of many Czech celebrities. Her son in Exeter, NH has now decided to start to offer his mothers work in the United States. All of Marie’s jewelry are original pieces of art and no two are alike. The non-leather products are washable in soap and water.
